The Myers Pup-traits
I was so thrilled to meet the Myers pups, Doodle, Maggie and Gus. Their owner wanted modern/classic, clean portraits that capture their individual personalities, and that would work well on a giant medium, like the Smallwoods frames. When I arrived, their mom had picked out this beautiful Victorian chair for them to sit on to be photographed. I love how stately it makes their portraits.
These photos were taken on a white backdrop at the owner’s home. I brought my backdrop and lighting and set up. I need about a 10x10 area to take photographs in home. This is enough space for the lighting, backdrop, and extra room for comfort. I like taking dog portraits at home because while the addition of gear may be new for the pups, it is ultimately their space in which they feel most comfortable. And pup comfort is an absolute must when taking portraits.
Doodle the golden Goldendoodle was such a smart and spunky girl! She was so good at sitting in the chair for treats. She definitely understood the assignment, and was beautiful to boot!
Maggie the chocolate Goldendoodle was just such a good sport, giving the most wonderful expressions and eager to please at every turn.
Gus the Labrador was also just a wonderful dog. Meeting Gus at his level was a must. He’s an older pup with incredible love for his owners. He needed time and a place to rest his big heart, so his portraits were on the floor.
Accommodating the individual needs of each pup is something that I strive to do for every portrait. Ensuring they are happy and relaxed by providing treats, toys, or human companionship helps capture their true selves.
I so enjoyed meeting these pups and their loving owners. This was practically a dream session for me; each of these pups was so wonderful to work with and photograph. Thank you to the Myers family for such a joyful in-home portrait session with your beloved crew.
