We're On Their Time
Whenever littles are involved with a session, this is the phrase I like to repeat to myself and to moms and dads. “We’re on their time. “That means its time to slow down and remember our own childhoods. What it’s like to explore, to do something new and different, to meet someone for the first time. There’s untethered joy, slight apprehensions, and the bigness of the world coming at you all at once.
It’s real childhood beauty.
My goal in a session is the capture that— to be attentive to those little moments that can be so big to our littles. Directing through prompts or just being observant while they explore are both great ways to get that perfect expression of childhood.
So if it feels overwhelming to think, my goodness I have to get him or her to smile, just remember that the best moments of your childhood weren’t staged; they were honest.
This are a gallery of my favorite honest moments.
(I included a few of my little, because this mamma also needs to remember that childhood beauty and honesty.)
