Tara and Mickey
I have known Tara and her dog Mickey for some time through Pet Partners of Acadiana. Tara contacted me for providing images for her new venture in providing and educating nationally about Animal Assisted Intervention—using animals to benefit humans.
Tara is an occupational therapist with over 20 years of experience in providing occupational therapy services for clients of all ages. In her practice as an occupational therapist, she has established safe and effective animal assisted therapy programs in a variety of settings. These programs help her clients progress towards their goals, and bring a smile or two along the way.
She was a founding member of Pet Partners of Acadiana in 1997, and has helped Pet Partners of Acadiana flourish in our community. In September, she will be a speaker at the national Pet Partners Conference in San Antonio.
In addition to these accomplishments, Tara is also a 200-hour certified yoga teacher, and children’s yoga teacher. She also served on the Board of Directors of the Autism Society of Acadiana for 5 years.
Tara is an accomplished and compassionate person. I am so excited that she will be educating others nationally about the benefits of the human-animal bond in the healthcare setting.
